Organized by the Nuwara Eliya Motor Racing Club, Ceylon Motor Sports Club, and Sri Lanka Association of Racing Drivers and Riders, there are four thrilling events lined up for 2024. Let's dive into what makes each of them so special. First up, we have the Hill Climbs, a truly special part of Sri Lanka's motor racing history. These events have their origins in the days when British planters would engage in friendly competitions, revving up their engines and navigating the challenging terrain of the hills.
The Magasthota Hill Climb is no walk in the park. With hairpin bends and narrow estate roads stretching across 875 meters, it's a real test for drivers. It demands a blend of skill and guts to conquer. At just a 6-minute drive from our hotel, you can witness the adrenaline-fueled race firsthand.
On the other hand, the Single Tree Hill Climb takes things to new heights – literally. As the highest hill climb event in Sri Lanka, it offers breathtaking views and some seriously thrilling maneuvers as drivers tackle its tricky track. For this event, you can catch all the action right from our garden, as the races kick off just down the road beside us. And here's the best part – you'll have a clear view of the finish line too, just by looking around! Picture yourself relaxing in our garden, sipping on a cool drink, while the sound of engines fills the air as drivers race towards the finish line. It's an experience like no other!
But the excitement doesn't end there. We also have the Lake Cross Races and 4x4 Races set to take place at the scenic Lake Gregory track. With just a 2-minute drive from our hotel, you can see the participants push the limits of traction and control, navigating challenging terrain to claim victory in these thrilling competitions.
What truly sets Nuwara Eliya's racing scene apart is the presence of both experienced and emerging talents. From renowned drivers and riders to promising newcomers, each event showcases the passion and prowess of Sri Lanka's racing community, promising nail-biting finishes and awe-inspiring displays of skill.
And let's not forget the Classic Car Show, adding a touch of nostalgia and history to the festivities. A beloved tradition that brings together proud owners and their vintage beauties for a parade through the streets of Nuwara Eliya.
